Statement:
Glass In November 2001 I attended a glass fusing and slumping course at Canning Arts Centre and instantly fell in love. I attended further courses with Ian Dixon, Marc Grunseit and Marc Leib. I get my inspiration from nature, particularly our WA flora and also everyday surroundings. I began with platters, bowls and coasters, progressing to wall hangings, and of late, framed glass pictures. I particularly love working with copper due to gorgeous colours produced by the heat. No 2 works are the same. It is a long process of tracing a design on to the copper shim, cutting this out, placing it between layers of glass and firing to extreme temperatures to fuse it together. Further firings are needed to slump the piece into a shape. I have my own kiln and the firings can be between 15-19 hours long and some work must have 3 firings. I have won the Canning Art Award twice, York Art Award once, Rockingham Awards twice, and Cockburn Art Exhibition once. I have participated in many group exhibitions and my work is in collections throughout Australia and the world.

Photography I have had a passion for photography since I purchased my first camera, a Kodak Instamatic, when I was 16 years old. Forty odd years later and my passion for photography has only increased. Photography for me is capturing a moment in time forever and I love that aspect of it. Being able to return over and over again to relive journeys =, or to gaze into faces of loved ones, animals, plants or at buildings. For me my photos are my visual record of my life and my camera accompanies me everywhere. I have undertaken a lot of travelling recently, which is my other love, this has given me the opportunity to make many design oriented photos. I am finding that I am looking at things in 2 different ways, as a means to record and as a means to art.
